Easter running

OK, so yesterday was Good Friday which meant that I had a day off work… which also meant a day off swimming as the University swimming pool was closed. I arranged to meet up with Di and Kirsty for a final long run before Paris. We met at 10am and then went for a 21.02k run, from The Common to...

Failure to plan is like planning to fail

Today started out quite well. I went to RunCamp and as there was no-one else there, I had a private session. We should have been focussing on breathing. That was OK on Tuesday and I’ve got a slight cold, so Ant asked what I wanted to work on. I wasn’t sure, so we decided to go back to some drills...

Meeting the nutritionist

I didn’t exercise yesterday as I hurt my knee at RunCamp, instead, I worked from home and tried not to move about too much. However, this morning I made myself cycle to work and tried not to eat too many bad snacks before seeing the nutritionist at 4:30pm. Results from the nutritionist were quite surprising. It turns out that my...

Eastleigh 10k and my 400m swimming time!

By Friday evening I was desperate for a break. I had a busy weekend planned with a yoga class, parkrun and Eastleigh 10k. After arriving home from work, I really didn’t feel like going out again. I just wanted to go to bed, but I had a yoga class scheduled, so I had to make myself go out. We did...

Swimming fail

‘So how did you get on in your 400m time trial?’, I can hear you asking. Sadly, the answer is that I failed. I could try to put a different spin on this, but it didn’t happen. I did some of the necessary planning (made my lunch and prepared breakfast last night) and got as far as finding a clean...

90-96 is the magic number

🙁 I had just about psyched myself up to enter Ferndown tri, when my husband delivered some bad news… he is unable to accompany me as he has a won a place in Bournemouth marathon, which is on the same day. I’m a little disappointed as I had hoped we could enter the event together and I had also suggested...

Should I enter Ferndown try a tri?

Wow, my glutes hurt today! I think it must have been the hopping that we did at RunCamp yesterday. Owwwww. It aches to move. Anyway, despite the pain, I battled on this morning and managed to get myself to the pool for another morning swim session. I practised doing lengths of various strokes, and timed myself for a few of...

Wetsuit!

ABSOLUTELY GUTTED!I organised my possessions into my panniers as best I could before leaving work yesterday, so that there would be plenty of room for my new wetsuit in its box. I cycled across town to the Post Office, but when I got there the door was closed. It looked strangely abandoned, so I wondered whether it had been relocated...

So excited about this week

I have decided that I need to blog little and often to keep on top of things, and am trying to start that way today. Hopefully, this will also generate more discussion around my blog posts. Neoprene! The first challenge that I had today was whether to go to the Post Office before work. I ‘accidentally’ ordered a wetsuit on...

Swimming with the fishes…

One day, I will manage to go to a swimming lesson and not feel exhausted before I start, but today is not that day, and it won’t be next week either (Eastleigh 10k)! Fortunately, all of my training this week has paid off as the instructor and my two fellow students commented that all of my strokes were looking better....

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
