Update on my swimming

🙁 I’ve been away from my blog for a long time, without any valid reason. I fell behind and then couldn’t work out how to get back to it, so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to catch up a little this week. I’ve decided to kick this off with a post about my swimming. I completed my first course...

Update on my cycling

I have failed to keep my blog up to date because I have been so busy. This week, I’ve got a couple of days off work so I’ve decided to try to get myself back up to date. It might be easiest to recap the progress I’ve made in each of the three disciplines, starting with cycling (even if swimming...

Catching up!

It has taken me a long time to finish writing this post, so apologies – I hope it was worth the wait! I’m going to go back to just after Paris Marathon… After Paris Marathon, it took me a few days to feel like running again, but by Wednesday, Kirsty and I were ready to go for a recovery run...

RunCamp part 2

This morning was my second Run Camp (part 2) session . I tried to make the early start better by getting my clothes ready last night… By I wasn’t prepared for the weather when I got up. Yesterday, was beautifully warm and sunny, but it was raining hard at 6am today. My orange t-shirt went back into the drawer to...

The Running School

I entered a running competition on Twitter and was fortunate enough to win three free sessions with The Running School – yay! Paul, the coach at The Running School, had already given me a free session for the promotional work that I did for The Running School, so I’m getting a great deal 🙂 I did my first session on...

First RR10 of the season – Royal Victoria Country Park

Yesterday was the first RR10 of the season. My first race with Lordshill was the last RR10 of the 2011 season. Last year I struggled because I had so many injuries, so I’d like to do well this year. Getting my excuses in early I knew that I wouldn’t be able to run well for a variety of reasons. These include...

The big day arrived

As I expected, I did not sleep well before Paris Marathon. I have been reading Paula Radcliffe’s autobiography. She makes it clear that the night before the marathon is not the most important, so I wasn’t too worried. I was unable to have my usual breakfast (porridge), but Kirsty and I had bought some plastic storage pots, so I had...

Marathon de Paris Expo

Ok, so we arrived in Paris yesterday and settled into our lovely, luxurious hotel. Despite being in the centre of the city it is fairly quiet, the bed is comfortable and the pillows are amazing. However, my leg still hurts 🙁 Carb-loading We settled ourselves in and then went out to meet Di, Mike, Patrick and Angela for dinner. They...

Send me all of your positive thoughts

This afternoon, I went for my second massage session of the day, with ultrasound therapy and then some Kinesio taping. I’m not entirely convinced that the taping will do any good, but I figure it can’t do any harm. I’m willing to try anything. Stuart often refers to me as his ‘little peach’ as I bruise very easily. Today my...

Will I be able to run in Paris?

I’ve not posted for a few days as I’ve not been very motivated. I ran hard at parkrun but was nowhere near my goal… probably because I was tired from Friday’s 13-mile run and had eaten badly for most of the week. In the afternoon, Stuart and I went into town to get our names put on our marathon tops....

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
