Planning for 2014
With only 10 weeks left in 2013, I thought I should start planning for next year. My five-year plan included the following for next year:
2014 | 1600m swim | 63-mile sportive (IoW) | Marathon | Sprint |
I haven’t booked a 1600m swim yet, but I may do Bournemouth Pier to Pier swim in July 2014. For cycling, I may do the Wiggle All Wight Sportive. I’ve already booked my place in Brighton Marathon in April 2014. I completed two sprint distance triathlons this year, so maybe I should up the ante.
The events listed below are ones that I’ve entered or am thinking of entering:
January
- CC6 05/01/14 (cross country race – no entry fee if running for a local club)
- Stubbington 10k 19/01/14 entered

Yes, you read that correctly!!! My lovely other half has entered both of us into the half iron distance Challenge event that will take place in Weymouth in 2014. Only this afternoon, I was explaining my sensible long-term triathlon plan to a colleague at work – oops, I’ve blown that now!
324 days to go!
Have you started planning for 2014 yet?

You are SO inspiring. Your blog is really impressive 🙂
Thank you, Reena… but I haven’t achieved my goals yet! I’m watching out for your blog about Brighton Marathon! 🙂
Brighton sounds feels so scary at the moment but I really believe I can do it. You will reach your goals and surpass them 🙂
You’ve made such a schedule for yourself already for 2014! Very inspirational!
Looks like a big year coming up. As for sensible plans – I say just do it. Life is short and there’s no guarantee we’ll be here long enough to do everything sensibly. Sometimes it’s better to just enter, race and accept we might not be as fast as in our dreams but at least we are out there:) . Can’t wait to hear all about the race and your 2014 adventures
Big year! Good luck and enjoy your training! I love that you actually map out your yearly race plan… I usually go out 3-6 months, but this is a really good way to be prepared!
I’ve actually stopped planning as far in advance as I used to! When I was captain of my running club, I knew exactly which races I was expected to do, which took up 26 weekends, then there were three races I had to marshal, so I had to plan ahead! I’ve also realised that it’s easy to feel down after a big race if there’s nothing else on the horizon to look forward to/preapre for! 🙂
Thanks, Andrew – wise words. Better to have tried and failed than never tried at all. I’ve got plenty of time to train if I make a sensible schedule 🙂
You have a great 2014 planned! So fun! And, a 70.3! Awesome 🙂
