Rules for Runners – 2014

These suggestions by Rock Creek Runner seem like some reasonable ‘rules’ to try out! Running Rules to Live By 1) Call yourself a runner.  If you run, you’re a runner.  Don’t be afraid. 2) Set a bigger goal than you ever thought possible.  And figure out what you need to do to get there.  Then do it. 3) Change your shoes more...

2014 goal-setting

It’s the start of a new year, so it’s an apposite time to review my progress and do some goal-setting for 2014. I’m hoping that 2014 will be the year that I achieve some elusive PBs, with a 5k PB being at the top of my wish list. Here’s how I did in 2013: 5k: 25:14 (PB: 25:08) 5 mile:...

I’ve finally got my running mojo back :-D

It’s been a strange week for me. After spending months and months thinking that I would never get back to my former level of fitness, there is actually a glimmer of hope on the horizon. I’ve come back from my training holiday with a new enthusiasm for running and an unwillingness to accept my self-imposed limitations. I’ve taken part in...

I chose to add some extra hills to my bike ride!

On Saturday, I was Run Directing at Southampton parkrun (again), so I didn’t manage to fit a run in. Lots of people have said that the new Route has got great PB potential, so I’m looking forward to trying it out next week. (However, it does feature two hills – well, one hill twice – which I don’t love as...

What have I been doing since my holiday?

I’ve been so busy in the fortnight since we’ve been back from Portugal that I’ve not been able to update my blog as much as I’d hoped. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve been up to. CC6 The Sunday morning after we got back was a cross-country race out in the New Forest. It was hard getting up in...

Embrace Sports Algarve Triathlon Holiday – Day 8

On our final day in Portugal, I got up early to bid goodbye to the people who were leaving early. Graeme, Kat and Alan were long gone, and two full minibuses were going for the early flight. Denny was one of the people who was leaving… but he hadn’t packed his bike box nd it took a little longer than...

Embrace Sports Algarve Triathlon Holiday – Day 7

Friday was our last full day of the holiday, which made me very sad. Although I was finding it challenging, I really liked all of the other triathletes and find the coaches inspirational. I knew that the bike ride would be tough, but I was also aware that we had the entire day in which to complete it, and I...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
