What did the postie try to deliver today?

OMG! OMG! OMG! I think my Team SOAS kit has arrived… I’ve received a “Sorry you were out” note through my letter box and the main clues on it are that: it’s an international item it’s a parcel it’s too big for my letterbox I really hope it’s my kit. I’m so excited about it! I’ve been gear hungry ever...

What’s a #TWIET?

So, today marks the first day of #TWIET – Tweet What I Eat Tuesday. I’ll be sharing what I’m eating with you on Twitter (and here) in the hope that it shames me into making healthy choices. It will also be interesting to get some feedback from people on alternative (vegetarian) options that I could try. I also received (from...

Back to Southampton

I returned to a hectic day at work. Before running I managed to read Chrissie Wellington’s latest blog post about body confidence.  I agree with her proposition that everyone has some issues with body confidence. However, there is a difference between being paranoid about what you look like and being acutely aware that you are a significantly larger build than...

Saturday jog on Hayle Beach

As it’s been a fairly tough week, with work and personal circumstances, yesterday, I decided to go out for a run on Hayle Beach with my cousin, Anneliese. We posed for a quick picture outside my mum’s house (“Mexico House”) and then set off towards the beach. It didn’t take long before we had crossed the towans (Cornish word for...

Life is a rollercoaster

Hello all! Apologies for my silence, the last week has been an emotional rollercoaster for me. After the high of finding out that I had been selected as a Team SOAS Ambassador, I plummeted to a low when I found out that my beloved grandmother was seriously ill. This has thrown my training, nutrition, blogging and work plans into disarray,...

“I came across a fallen tree…”

Today was my second long run of my marathon training. I had originally planned to incorporate it with a CC6 (cross-country race), but the weather here has been horrendous. I thought it might be very hard to force myself to run 9 or so miles home from a race whilst wet and muddy. Also, I would have had to take...

This might be the most exciting thing has has ever happened to me…

OMG OMG OMG! That was what went running through my mind when I opened up laptop this morning, but I didn’t have much time to ponder the contents of the SOAS Racing email that I had read as I was going to parkrun. Not just any parkrun, but Eastleigh parkrun, which has returned (for three weeks only) to its birthplace...

“There is no off-season, there is only an IMPROVEMENT season”.

…or so says triathlete Courtney Pullman’s coach which seems like a really good mantra to live by and one that will help me to achieve my goals. One of my cycling friends shared What cyclists say and what they mean and it made me laugh out loud. I could especially relate to: “Hold on, there’s something wrong with my bike.” (meaning...

I’m swimming in the rain, just swimming in the rain…

It is my intention to try to post more frequently this year, instead of subjecting you to lengthy dissertations on what I’ve been up to. I tried to get out and about over Christmas and got my running year off to a good start by parkrunning. Stuart and I had originally intended to ‘do the double’ on New Year’s Day...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
