My first visit to Brighton

Today I needed to go to Brighton to present at a conference. I’ve wanted to go there for so long, but I was expecting my marathon visit to be my first visit. The train journey was comfortable and uneventful and it was just a short walk from the station to the Brighton Centre. I didn’t get to see much of...

I may not be a winner, but at least I’m losing in style!

Yesterday was such an exciting day. I came home at lunchtime, as I needed to get my car for work and noticed that there was a man on my front lawn. On closer inspection, I realised that it was Adrian, my lovely gardener (I’m not posh, but it was cheaper to have a gardener for a couple of years than...

Goal

Here is today’s IDEAfit photo a day image with the theme ‘goal’: In January, I decided that I wanted to find an amazing brand to work with. I was utterly astounded to find that I had been chosen to be a brand ambassador for SOAS. Today, I received a fantastic parcel of kit from them. It’s so awesome that it’s...

No more marathons

Here is today’s IDEAfit photo a day image to go with the caption ‘style’: Reasons not to sign up for the next race I thought this blog post from Girls Gone Sporty on ‘Reasons not to sign up for the next race’ was particularly apt for how I’m feeling now. (link currently broken). Essentially, the arguments against signing up for...

Inspiration and Eastleigh 10k

Here is today’s IDEAfit photo a day image: The topic is ‘Inspiration’ and these two are some of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met. (N.B. The photo isn’t mine – I think it was taken by a member of the Embrace Sports team). I’m also continuing the theme of sharing one of the Team SOAS Brand Ambassador’s images each...

Goodbye to Paphos!

Water is the theme of today’s IDEAfit photo a day image: After another late night, I woke before 6am and decided that I might as well get up as I had plenty of things to do. I packed as many of my possessions as I could before putting on my running kit. When I walked downstairs at 6:25am, I was...

iPads, Coffee and Cake – presentation day in Paphos, Cyprus

20th March Here is today’s IDEAfit photo a day image for the theme ‘Bold’ – it’s the brave female triathletes who I went on holiday with in November. Note that the lads weren’t brave enough to get into the pool!!! I woke before my alarm went off at 6:30am, having had a disturbed night. I think I’m not used to...

Disappointed by the infinity pool

Thursday was my first full day in Paphos (Cyprus). I got up bright and early, ready to go out for a run with Fiona. I was excited about the good weather and the opportunity to explore… and was also enjoying the fact that there was no pressure on me to run fast as Fiona hasn’t run for a little while....

I’m going Greek!

It’s been a while since I’ve finished a blog post (I’ve got lots of half-written ones), so I’m sorry. I’ve decided that I’d better just write each day and I’ll fill in the gaps as soon as possible. Today has been a busy and LONG day as I’ve travelled to Paphos in Cyprus for a conference. I woke up at...

Sometimes you just have to have a day off

Here is today’s IDEAfit photo a day image on the theme of ‘inspiration’ – it’s Chrissie Wellington’s autobiography. I should have gone to Run Camp this morning, but I made the decision not to go. I felt guilty about it, but I was also feeling exhausted and was aware of how much I had to get done. I spent a...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
