Is it possible to add any more awesomeness into my weekend?

Wow! What A busy weekend I had. It started with a 6am alarm call on Saturday morning, as I needed to do a long run as part of my marathon training. I had to leave the house at 7:10am to meet a friend, so I had just enough time to lace my shoes: The SweatPink shoelaces have come in really...

“Measure life by the legacy you create.”

I’ve been following Chris’s blog (http://nzmultisports.wordpress.com/) for several months now and was extremely flattered when Chris offered to be interviewed… I love it when anyone comments on my blog, so an offer to contribute in a greater way was really surprising and exciting! Like me, Chris is a triathlete who came to the sport later in life, is in his...

My first ever turbo trainer session

After my post earlier this week where I discussed media attacks on women in sport, I was really saddened to read a Storify yesterday [no longer available, 2018] which showed that sexism is alive and well when people think they can be protected by the ‘anonymity’ of being online. (Beth Tweddle’s vile Twitter abuse: Women, it’s time to shout back...

#TWIETing again

Yesterday, I took my lovely running group out for a hill training session. We’ve got a fantastic hill loop nearby – to the right is a short, sharp hill and then at the top, it is possible to continue round and then down a long, slow incline until you return to the start point. How to tackle hills when running...

It can’t rain all the time

I try to remain positive in my posts (although I am aware that I can be quite critical of myself), but today’s post may be quite negative, for which I apologise. Unfortunately, my beloved Grandma died this morning. She was the last of my grandparents and the one who meant the most to me, as she looked after me a...

Sharing the shoelaces

My Saturday started with a parkrun on The Common. As I’ve got my first race of the year tomorrow, I just wanted to take it easy, so I offered to pace over 30 minutes on Twitter and Facebook. The lovely Nat responded. She’s a really inspirational lady who ran throughout her last pregnancy and who actually improved during that time!...

I’ve seen the future (OK, I’ve seen what I’ll be wearing in the future!)

It’s been another hectic day, although I managed to leave after just 11 hours in the office today. This meant that yet again I’ve missed Friday evening swimming. However, I’m so tired that I’m not sure I’d have enjoyed it anyway. Overall, it’s been a rest day (part from six miles on my bike as my daily commute). Anyway, all...

A Triathlete’s Adventure – “Growth occurs beyond your comfort zone”

OK, so I’m trialling a new feature on my blog that I’m hoping will be an equivalent of a Twitter #FF (Follow Friday) – every week, I’d like to highlight someone else’s blog that I read regularly and that I think people who read my blog might enjoy. Please feel free to give me feedback on this idea as well...

Would you like to know what was in my parcel?

Well, this is going to be a short post as it’s already late for me and tomorrow is going to be another long day. I was up early this morning ready to get my parcel. I realised last night that although I responded to the email I received from SOAS almost immediately, the likelihood that international postal services would deliver...

What did the postie try to deliver today?

OMG! OMG! OMG! I think my Team SOAS kit has arrived… I’ve received a “Sorry you were out” note through my letter box and the main clues on it are that: it’s an international item it’s a parcel it’s too big for my letterbox I really hope it’s my kit. I’m so excited about it! I’ve been gear hungry ever...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
