Coach in Running Fitness

I’ve nearly finished all of the practical sessions for my Coach in Running Fitness course now. I’m really grateful to Coach Rob for coming along to supervise what I’ve been doing. Now I just need to write up everything I’ve done! What do you think makes a good coach?

Cycling tribes

When you become a cyclist, you become part of a special culture. This culture has its own slang and there are multiple subcultures. It is possible to belong to several cycling tribes. What you are wearing and riding will identify you. By day, I am a commuter cyclist with a sensible hybrid bike. I wear hi-vis clothing and use helpful panniers....

#TWIETing again and a training ride

It’s been a while since I last TWIET ed (Tweet What I Eat Tuesday), but I thought that returning to it might help to get my eating back on track. Quite a few people have recommended using MyFitnessPal to me, but it’s refusing to log me in on my phone at the moment, and I don’t have enough free time to...

Monday Morning Motivation – Sacrifice

Thanks to Chris at Dry2Tri for sharing this motivational video. I appreciate that it is a little cheesy, but it’s impossible to watch it and not feel inspired to do more and be more. Here’s the transcript for those of you who don’t have 6:11 to spend watching it: Motivational Speakers: Les Brown, Eric Thomas, Ray Lewis Motivational Speaker One:...

Why are the weekends so short?

It’s the end of another weekend and I still haven’t got everything done. I had hoped to catch up with all of the half-written blog posts that I have as well as doing some additional work for my day job and planning my meals for this week, but I haven’t got any of that done. However, I have done some...

New kit :-D

It is possible to be a triathlete with a minimal amount of kit. However, I just love trying out new sports kit. As I don’t often buy other clothes (or smoke or drink etc) then I consider new kit to be my main vice. Trying out a running skirt For a long time, I considered running skirts to be pointless....

Thank you Dassi bikes – ITU World Triathlon London

On Saturday 31st May, Stu and I were delighted to be able to attend the ITU World Triathlon London, courtesy of Dassi bikes – Stuart was fortunate enough to win tickets from them. Stu spent quite a long time admiring the bikes on the stand and as Dassi is a local company (Hampshire-based), he is very tempted to purchase one...

First Eastleigh aquathlon of 2014

Thursday evening was my first Eastleigh aquathlon of the year at Lakeside. Last year, I did the novice event. It was my intention to move up the full (sprint) distance… but that was before my shoulder injury. Choosing my race distance I spoke to the organisers and they said that as it was a mass start, I could make my...

Turbo training at home

Coach Ant had set me an hour of turbo training (indoor cycling). There was a reasonably long warm up and a long cooldown. The midsection was an attempt to work out what my 20km TT pace might be. I spent a long time creating a playlist to help me get in the mood for the race. I managed to get...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
