Patchwork post!

Wow – there’s so much fantastic stuff to read online at the moment, so I thought I’d share some of my favourite reads of the day with you. First up, there’s Gina Crawford‘s latest blog post on her third HIM in 15 days. What I find particularly interesting about Gina’s blog is that she is completely open and honest. Very...

“It’s not about you joggers who go round and round and round”

Tonight’s challenge was a 5-minute warm-up jog, 30-minute threshold run and 10-minute cooldown. I needed to find somewhere relatively flat for this, so I decided to go track running. Because of my Uni gym membership, I have free access. I’ve never used it before, so I thought I might as well take advantage of it. It also had the benefit...

26th May – didn’t quite TWIET

I’d intended to TWIET on 26th May, and got as far as taking all of the photos, but for some reason, none of my tweets was sent, so here for your delectation are my meals for that date: Breakfast: 30g porridge oats and some dried pineapple Lunch: 5 cherry tomatoes, 4 radishes, 5 slices of cucumber, 2 carrots, some sad...

2x5k time trials

My challenge was to do two 5km time trials. I had to do a 10-15 minute warm-up and then do the time trials. Ideally, I needed to find somewhere away from cars or traffic lights. The alternative option was to do the time trials at home on my turbo trainer. However, I need to work on my confidence and bike...

More SOAS kit and Stuart is a winner!

I’ve been so busy with work (and am still struggling with pain in my right arm/shoulder) that I’ve not managed to blog as much as I’d hoped this week. There’s a massive sale on right now on the SOAS website, with items reduced by 30% or 40%. If you’re built a little more solidly then you might find something that...

Finally back to some training

On Saturday morning, I volunteered at parkrun as I’m still not ready to run again, but later on, I decided to risk getting back on my bike. Teri was kind enough to be my escort for a sedate ride. We covered about 10 miles in an hour, so I definitely wasn’t fast, but at least I was back on my...

Injuries – 1; First week of Challenge Weymouth training schedule – 0

I was meant to start the first week of my first half iron distance triathlon training schedule this week, but I’m still struggling with arm pain and my swollen knee doesn’t seem to be deflating, so I’m already behind schedule. I should have been doing an hour on my turbo trainer yesterday, which might have been manageable, but my bike...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
