Why are the weekends so short?

It’s the end of another weekend and I still haven’t got everything done. I had hoped to catch up with all of the half-written blog posts that I have as well as doing some additional work for my day job and planning my meals for this week, but I haven’t got any of that done. However, I have done some training (which I will post about soon), and have scheduled some future blog posts as well as had a fantastic weekend. If you want to see some photos of what I’ve been up to, please check out my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/fatgirltoironman

I’ve also been doing quite a bit of online reading. First up is a really interesting blog post about the reasons why Birmingham City Council has given for cancelling Skyride there (a mass participation cycling event). (Blog post no longer available – April 2020). Birmingham has some lovely areas, but it also has heavy traffic as I found out when I tried to run to a triathlon shop on the outskirts of the city. I really hope that people who live in Birmingham urge the council to rethink its decision.

I read this BBC article ‘Does endurance cycling help you live longer?‘ The vehemence and vitriol of some of the anti-cycling campaigners (in the comments) is quite surprising – they seem to forget that quite a few cyclists are also car drivers. I cycle to work every day and am a recreational cyclist, but I also own a car. I try to be considerate of other people at all times.

I also watched this amusing video on ‘The truth of running’:

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

What did you get up to this weekend?

I'd love to hear your thoughts...
