Monday Morning Motivation – How awesome is this lady?

91-Year-Old to Run Sunday’s San Diego Marathon 91 year old finishes San Diego marathon It’s tough enough running a marathon as a young person, but to finish one in any time at 91 years old is nothing short of amazing! Hariette broke her age group’s record by 1:45 – not 1 minute and 45 seconds, but 1 hour and 45...

Why do I keep entering crazy events?

I’ve had such a busy weekend that I’ve not had enough time to even take photos! Long runs I asked Coach Ant whether I could swap my planned sessions for this weekend, as I’ve not been able to catch up with many friends recently. He agreed, so I was able to do my ‘long’ run on Saturday morning. I call...

“Have some electrolytes and eat a piece of kale…”

This week I’ve fitted in a lot of sessions including pyramid training in the pool and at the track and some time on my bike. I’ve also done some hurdling. Anyway, before we get into that, I wanted to share something funny. I just love the latest video from IFHT: Pyramid training at the pool I’ve had a busy week....

Tracking and track-ing

Today has been a really beautiful sunny day, so I’ve made the most of it. This morning, I had to cycle down to the Oceanography Centre for work (which was exciting as I got to see some really cool stuff linked with a work project), but the real bonus was that I then had to cycle all of the way...

Just keep swimming!

Today’s training consisted of an hour of swimming with the Tri Club. I should have had plenty of time to get ready, but I wasted time when I got home from work and then had to hurry. I got in my car and was halfway to the pool when I realised that I had left my kit bag with my...

Monday Morning Motivation – Planning and goal-setting

We’ve all heard of SMART goals (Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic and Time-based), but how many of you think about the language you use on your to-do lists? Which verbs are going to feature in your SMART goals for this week?

Running, beer and cake – what’s not to like?

Today was the Braishfield 5 mile beer race, hosted by Romsey Road Runners. I mentioned it last year, as I hadn’t realised it was on and we cycled past it. This year, I expected to miss it again as I was going to do the uninspiring D-Day 10k race in Portsmouth, which is the final race in the HRRL series,...

Preparing for Eastleigh Open Water Tri

Eastleigh Open Water Tri is fast approaching (29th June), so I thought I’d better start getting prepared for the event. The swim and the run take place at Lakeside, which is where I’ve done aquathlons and where I first started parkrunning, so I’m familiar with the location, but I had no idea of the bike route. I put an appeal...

My longest ever swim: 2km!

Today’s training consisted of a Run Camp session and a swim, with a bit of cycling thrown in to make it a full triathlon day. I woke early at 5:30am, but that seemed like an indecent time to start the day, so I closed my eyes again until the alarm went off at 6am. After a bit of faffing around,...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
