My first race as a pacer – Eastleigh 10k

I had been hoping that I could go for a PB at Eastleigh 10k. It’s renowned for being a fast flat 10k (and is where I set my last PB). I’ve been fighting a chest infection since February, so I had to let go of that dream. Fortunately, I’ve got an understanding GP (the Garmin on her wrist was a...

Monday Morning Motivation – Deal with it!

There are too many stereotypes about what men and women are capable of/’should be’ doing. What are you doing to challenge stereotypes?

Cycling in 2016 – finding Hampshire’s hills

At the start of the year, I stated that this was going to be my year of cycling. I’ve got a lot of events lined up (including two YMCA sportives, RideLondon and the Wales Sportive). However,  I’ve not been out on my bike very much. I cycle to work every day, but now that I’ve moved, it’s only a couple...

Salisbury 10 mile

As I’m not supposed to be racing, but am still allowed to run, I figured that I’d better take it easy at Salisbury. Pete had offered me a lift and I was grateful to take him up on his offer, but I felt a little sad as we ran most of the race together last year and I’d got a...

Workout Wednesday – No need to be Gentile

It’s not really workout related, but I like this video by Zach Anner. If you don’t have time to watch the video, just take away the key message of treating people as individuals 🙂

Monday Morning Motivation – This is my spin class

There’s no point in taking part in a sport or activity that you don’t enjoy. If indoor cycling isn’t your thing, try something else like table tennis! What’s the most unusual sport you’ve tried? Would you recommend it to others?

I’m pickin’ up good vibrations – thanks to Skandika

I’m really excited to be trying out a vibration plate courtesy of Skandika. Have you heard of Skandika before? It’s a large German company that is well-known for its camping, outdoor and fitness equipment. The parcel arrives As soon as the box arrived, I was so excited to open it. The first thing I saw in the box was the...

Friday Five – Five ways to deal with illness when you’re training for an event

No-one wants to be ill or injured, but it can be especially frustrating to spend several months training hard for an event and then find that you fall ill. Injuries happen and how you return to training after an injury will depend on its severity and how close to your event you are. A week before we were due to...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
