Monday Morning Motivation – Courage is already inside

OK, so I’ve never seen a Ram Truck (they’re not available in the UK), but I love this inspirational commercial showing strong women breaking stereotypes. Enjoy watching The Courage is already inside. Have you ever thought ‘I could never do that!’ Have you ever thought, ‘I could never climb a mountain or compete against that!’ Have you ever thought you just...

A review of SportArt Compression products

I’ve been trying out a range of exciting new products recently, including three items from SportART: Compress socks Calf guards Insoles Who is SportART? A pair of Ironman triathletes set up SportART. It is a relatively new company. The first product they developed was insoles. The triathletes came up with a technique to analyse human feet and develop ‘sports-anatomical insoles...

Brug review

I’ve been fortunate enough to test a Kickstarter project recently: Brug by Wunderlife… An innovative bag/rug combo. This is a really interesting product that I think will appeal to a wide range of people. The brug can fold up really small (about the size of a 2-pint carton of milk). Which means that it could easily be packed in a suitcase...

PBPB – getting back on form

Well, I’m fully into the swing of marathon training now. I’m really enjoying it and have even achieved a PBPB! On 16th, my buddy Pete managed to get me around 17.5 miles, which is the longest run I’ve done for a very long time. I had been nervous about doing the run after doing Buggy Mums, but that class was...

Monday Morning Motivation – How good are your bike handling skills?

One of the reasons why I’ve decided to take part in cyclocross is that I really want to improve my bike handling skills. I know that I’m nervous at times, and I don’t always react to hazards as well as I could. I admire anyone who is a really confident cyclist. However, there is one man whose cycling skills I...

Monday Morning Motivation – What can you endure?

What can you endure? is a great motivational video to start your week the right way. Jaret Grossman: There’s a certain delusional quality that all successful people have to have. You see all successful people have this belief, they have this understanding, that I’m going to do something different than has ever been done before. They have this idea that...

Monday Morning Motivation – Unlimited you

This week’s Monday Morning Motivation is Unlimited You, a Nike commercial. Life isn’t about finding your limits. It’s about realizing you have none. Narrator: Shhh. Baby Daniel is just waking up. He’s going to win a State Championship one day. Narrator: This guy? He’ll run a marathon. Runner: Who will? Narrator: You, man! Runner: Me? Narrator: She is going to have...

Pride comes before a fall

Last week didn’t start so well as I felt shattered on Monday and didn’t go to swimming. I know that I need to swim regularly in the hope that I can swim 5km by April. Evening run with Pete On Tuesday, I went for a run with Pete. I took my head torch with me but didn’t need it for...

Thursday Tri Reads

I’ve had a bit of time to be able to read some articles online this week, so here are the ones that I felt were worth sharing… Highways England Cycling e-learning This is an interesting website that features educational materials for cyclists Explained – the best running posture for triathletes This short article explains the importance of running tall Beryl:...

Work less, run more

… that’s one of the slogans of a new brand on the fitness scene: Season’s Trail. It’s an online running brand that allows you to purchase complete coordinated running outfits (and we all know that I love to wear matching outfits!) How does Season’s Trail work? It’s a similar model to Fabletics, but has a couple of advantages: for men...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
