First and last long ride before RideLondon

I deferred my place in RideLondon last year and had hoped that I would be able to train and take part this year. Sadly, things have not gone as smoothly as I had hoped. I am unable to defer my place again, so I can either take part in the event or keep my fingers crossed that I am lucky...

Pacing at parkrun

.A few weeks ago, one of my friends commented on Facebook that her 8-year-old son was speeding up. She felt she was holding him back at parkrun. At the time, he was running at around 27 minutes. I felt that pacing at parkrun shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. A date was set. Then the young lad blew everyone...

HOWL aquathlon 2017

This evening Stu and I took part in HOWL aquathlon. It’s the second year that the event has taken place and it was my second time taking part. Last year, I was pregnant when I took part, so I was grateful just to be able to do so. This year I was hoping that I would make it through the...

St Swithuns Tri

St Swithuns Tri was to be my second triathlon of the year. It was a new event, so I was looking forward to seeing the venue. I also guessed that some of the route might be similar to the route used in previous years for Winchester Duathlon, which would be fun. My mum had agreed to come along to look...

Buggy Mums, parkrun, JPCC and a sundae

Wednesday was a rainy day, but that didn’t stop me from going along to Buggy Mums. I knew that Christine would have planned a session that would keep us moving and I wasn’t wrong. Unsurprisingly, we were a small group of just 7 people today, but that didn’t make it any less fun. One brave lady came along for the...

Starting Pilates

I’d hoped to get my week off to a good start with a swim. However, after getting home late on Sunday evening, there was a lot of organising that needed to be done yesterday 🙁 Despite that, today turned into a very good day because of starting Pilates and running with a friend. I’ve done pilates a few times before...

Cycling and parkrunning

It’s been such a hectic long weekend. We’ve been out cycling with my mum, tried some new Muc-Off products, been to Penrose parkrun and generally had a lovely time in Cornwall. Borrowing a bike Friday was my mum’s birthday. She’s been working hard at losing weight and getting fitter, so after she’d been to her circuits class we decided to...

Swim the triangle, run the prom

This week I’ve been down in Cornwall visiting my mum for her birthday. There are loads of events on this weekend (including Lordshill 10k and Southampton City Ride), but I had intended to do St Ives Biathlon. This is a race that involves running and swimming, not skiing and shooting. It’s a 2km run then a 1500m sea swim. I’ve...

Lee on Solent parkrun and some info about Hants Run Blogs

Southampton parkrun was cancelled today because a large event (Gung Ho!) was taking place right across the Common, so this gave Stuart and I the chance to do a bit of parkrun tourism. I’d like to try the new(ish) event at Whiteley, but I knew that would be busy, then I got an invitation that I couldn’t refuse… Lee on...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
