And it’s a NO for me

Another year and another rejection in the London Marathon ballot. Maybe one day, I’ll get a Good For Age place. That would take a lot of training as I would need to be able to maintain a pace of 5:19/km. I really enjoyed running Southampton Marathon earlier this year, but think I’m more likely to aim for Southampton Half in...

Monday Morning Motivation – London to Holyhead 1964

53 years ago, people were getting up to incredible feats. This short documentary shows the longest unpaced single day classic cycling race. It took place in 1964 (not 1962 as the caption says). The incredible cyclists pedalled all of the way from London to Holyhead! Does that inspire you to get out on your bike for a ride this week?...

Monday Morning Motivation – Crying in the Rain

I liked last week’s motivational video about Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon so much that I went hunting for another one and found this one from 2014 – enjoy! “The tears stream down my cheeks from my unblinking eyes. What makes me weep so? There is nothing saddening here. Perhaps it is liquefied brain.” ― Samuel Beckett Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon...

Garmin RideOut

.I was really pleased that Stu managed to get us places in the Garmin RideOut. I’ve done this event twice before and had a place in last year’s event, but had to give it away as we didn’t think it was safe for me to take part. Stu organised for Baby M to spend the day with her grandparents and...

Chariots of fire – my review of the Thule Chariot Lite

It’s coming up to 1 year since Baby M was born and so I’m planning my return to work. In the past, I loved my daily cycle commute. It’s not a long ride, but it’s just long enough for me to feel like I’ve had some exercise and fresh air and for me to unwind. However, I thought that this...

Monday Morning Motivation – Ain’t no mountain high enough

Earlier this month, some tough triathletes took on the Isklar Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, which is one of the hardest triathlons on the planet. Here’s a video about last year’s event. If you’d like to find out more, visit the event website.

Back to being ‘Productive’

My Garmin has been making me feel guilty recently by telling me that I’ve been unproductive or detraining. I wanted to be back to being productive. Veri Ivanova After a rare night out on Friday, I really didn’t want to get up on Saturday morning. (By rare, I mean the first time that Stuart and I have gone out since I...

Zoot suit

When I was younger, Millets was synonymous with camping, however, their range of products has significantly expanded in recent years and Millet Sports now sell a great range of kit for running and triathlon. I’ve recently been investigating the triathlon clothing range sold by Millets. They stock a range of brands, including 2XU, Aquasphere, Skins, Zoot, Orca and Zone3. There...

Monday Morning Motivation: We are marathoners

Marathoners are a different breed. Their world is full of meticulous planning; of getting up before the sun; of personal sacrifice, of lungs gasping for air as they struggle to finish that last mile… But that’s not all there is to it. They do it because they love it. They do it because it’s addicting; and, most of all they...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
