Back on it – a weekly round-up

Hello again! I feel like I’m finally getting back on top of things, so here’s a round-up of my week that included parkrun, swimming, Buggy Mums and Mile of Miles. Saturday – Volunteering at parkrun For the second week in a row, I was a volunteer at parkrun – this time as a Run Director. Because of building works, we’re...

Eating healthily and trying MYHK

I’ve been working hard to eat healthily this year. I’m fortunate enough to be supported by The Athlete’s Palate, but it’s still hard for me. Whilst marathon training, I expected to have an increased appetite (especially as a breastfeeding mum), but I’d forgotten that that hunger sometimes lingers after the race. I’ve also been struggling with my appetite because I’m...

Missing in Action

Hi! I’ve not been blogging much recently for a variety of actions. I’ve been desperately trying to stay afloat and I’m not managing it very well. I really appreciate everyone who reads my blog and especially those of you who take the time to comment, but I need to acknowledge why I started this blog – as a way to...

Winchester May Day Tri 2017

Last year, Winchester May Day Tri was the only full triathlon that I did, so I was looking forward to doing it again this year. (I did three elements from the Long Course Weekend, over 3 days and the run part of London Triathlon, but they don’t really count!) I was looking forward to wearing my gorgeous tri kit from The...

Southampton Marathon – possibly the best race I’ve ever had!

When I heard that there was going to be a full marathon in Southampton, I immediately wanted to enter. I’ve never been lucky enough to get a place in London Marathon, so this is the next best thing (for me). I also thought Southampton Marathon would be a good comeback race after having Baby M. There’s nothing like the fear...

The big round up

It feels like I’m posting less and less frequently, which is making me feel so sad. I’m still able to exercise, but I have so little time to myself that I’m finding it really hard to blog. This makes me really sad as I love having the time to reflect on what I’ve been doing and I feel like I...

Swimming with a legend

As you may know, I’m currently training for Swimathon, which is going to be a massive challenge for me. I’ve not been swimming as much as I used to because it’s a logistical challenge with Baby M. When I was offered the chance to have a swimming lesson with Duncan Goodhew, the President of Swimathon, I leapt at the opportunity....

How to deal with stinky cycling shoes

Spring is finally here with longer daylight and sunny days – hurray! For me, I’m hoping this means that there will be more opportunities for cycling (certainly by the end of April when my baby will be old enough to go in a bike trailer). However, I’ve just got out my neglected cycling shoes and in comparison to my shiny...

Pacing at Eastleigh 10k

This time last year, I was pregnant, but very few people knew, so I chose to be a pacer at Eastleigh 10k. It meant that I was able to take part in the race without people encouraging me to push myself harder than would have been good for me. I really enjoyed the experience. Although my running is going well,...

Have you entered Swimathon 2017?

I’ll be posting a lot about Swimathon in the next few weeks as I’m thinking about it a lot. I’ll be completing my 5k swim at The Quays in Southampton on 07/04/17 (I hope), although I’m a little worried about just how long that will take. (It’s 200 lengths! I’ve swum 5k before, but it was wearing a wetsuit in...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
