Preparing for Southampton MoRun

Southampton MoRun is fast approaching, and I’ll be honest that my preparations have not been ideal thus far. I’ve only done 13 runs over 9km so far in 2018. The last time I ran that far was at Thunder Run in July. My most recent parkruns I had plans to continue my parkrun tourism, but a variety of reasons have meant...

Monday Morning Motivation: Rory Bosio

This morning’s motivation is brought to you courtesy of ultrarunner Rory Bosio. Rory is an American athlete who specialises in ultra-trail runs. She won the 2013 and 2014 editions of Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and the Lavaredo Ultra-Trail in 2014. She ran her first 1-mile race at the age of 8 and in 8th grade she won her local cross country championships. Even...

Monday Morning Motivation: Rhythm

We may call Joe Grant a “runner guy,” but honestly, those words fail to give a true notion of what he actually does. Joe Grant heads into the mountains for a lot more than running. What he finds out there, high among the craggy peaks, is what he likes to call rhythm. Joe’s adventures take him around the globe. He’s...

Monday Morning Motivation: Racing the Tide

California’s Lost Coast trail may be one of the few in the country to actually disappear during high tide. That didn’t stop ultrarunner and Red Bull athlete Dylan Bowman from running the 55 miles from Usal Beach, the trail’s southern terminus, to Mattole Beach in just over 11 hours. Locally, the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon has a shingle section that is...

Couch to Active

I was really excited to receive a review copy of Lyn Lindbergh’ book Couch to Active. I desperately want to exercise and get fitter but am struggling to live an active life. My hope was that this book would inspire me and help me find solutions that would work for me. Who is Lyn Lindbergh? Despite her sporty appearance, Lyn hasn’t...

MoRun in Southampton + 21 other locations in the British Isles

I was really excited to learn that a MoRun will be taking place in Southampton this year. Every year Southampton hosts Race for Life and various other runs to raise awareness of women’s cancers, but there are few events to raise awareness and valuable funds to support men’s health. Prostate cancer and testicular cancer affect many men, but they aren’t...

Two parkruns in a row at Southampton

I’ve been doing a bit of parkrun tourism recently, so it was great to do two parkruns at Southampton. I’m getting ever slower, but it was lovely to be able to catch up with friends. It’s hilarious that it says it was my fastest time this year. It’s my fastest time since the event’s anniversary in summer, but I’ve run...

Monday Morning Motivation – Dream Crazy

This week’s Monday Morning Motivation is the Nike commercial Dream Crazy: “Don’t ask if your dreams are crazy. Ask if they’re crazy enough. #justdoit“ If people say your dreams are crazy. If they laugh at what you think you can do. Good Stay that way. Because what non-believers fail to understand, is that calling a dream crazy is not an...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
