Scilly Swim Challenge preparations

Stuart and I are very excited that we have booked our accommodation for the Scilly Swim Challenge. Now we just need to book our travel over (probably via the Scillonian, a trusty little ferry that is older than me). We have been issued with an outline plan for the weekend: Friday 4th September: 1400 to 1600hrs – Registration for...

I’m so excited…

…my 2015 Team SOAS kit has finally arrived: First event of the year I have my first multisport event of the year on Sunday (Winchester Duathlon). The kit has definitely arrived at the right time… but I want to wear it all now. (I’m wearing the new hoodie as I type). I was going to be sensible and have a...

A PB, +50% on a ride and a trip to the velodrome

Last weekend, I had a massive weekend with a parkrun, two bike rides and a visit to Calshot velodrome. parkrun preparation It started on Friday with a leaving party for a work colleague, which involved being out late at the pub and some karaoke. (As usual, no alcohol for me, so no singing). It was a fun evening (although sad...

#ilovecyclingbecause

In the last couple of weeks, images with the hashtag #Ilovecyclingbecause have appeared on the pavements. The first time I spotted one, I was on my bike (on the road, not on the pavement!) Frustratingly, I passed by too quickly to read what it said. As soon as I went out for a walk, I kept my eyes peeled to...

First PB of 2015 at Salisbury 10 Mile

My first PB (or PR for my American friends) was at Salisbury 10 mile on March 8th. I met several friends at number collection, and was also snapped by the official photographer whilst getting ready: I ran Salisbury 10 with my friend, Pete, who is coming back from injury, so we both appreciated having some company. Pete is better at...

Southampton parkrun #142

Southampton parkrun #142 was my first parkrun in almost a month. It was my first parkrun as a 37-year-old. It was also my fastest run since having laser eye surgery. I’m taking it as a sign that I’m on the comeback trail!

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
