Social Media Party

I’ve been really bad at blogging recently (it’s the usual excuses – working hard, training hard, taking part in lots of events… and the little matter of trying to plan a house move), so I thought I’d take this opportunity to have a social media party. I’ll share my social media sites with you (so that you’ve not got any...

Monday Morning Motivation: Martyn Ashton

With the start of the Tour de France, I thought I’d go with a cycling theme for this week’s Monday Morning Motivation. Many people will be familiar with Martyn Ashton for his awesome Road Bike Party videos, but what you may not know was that Martyn was paralysed from the waist down in 2013. Here’s his amazing comeback video: You...

Swimming in June

I managed to get in some good swims in June and was pleased to reach a monthly total of 15.5km. However, it’s still a scary thought that I need to swim at least that far in one day!   Save

Does listening to music make you run faster? New study has the answer.

I’ve been reading a number of articles about running with music. The verdict is interesting: Does Music Help You Run Faster? A Look at the Scientific Research. I’ve never run with music (and it’s not allowed in most races), but I’m tempted to sort out a parkrun playlist and give it a go one week. Further reading about running with...

Southampton parkrun #159 – Kate’s 100th parkrun

I thought it would be fun to run Kate’s 100th parkrun with her. Back in April, we ran the final section of Southampton Half Marathon together. It was a very sociable run. We chatted all of the way around! Well done, Kate! Have you reached any parkrun milestones? What are you aiming for next? Save

The Agony of De Feet – Brutal 10 Enduro Race Report

On Saturday night/Sunday morning, Stuart and I took part in the Brutal 10 Enduro, which was held at Minley (near Yateley). It was a 12-hour running event starting at 9pm. Stu decided to enter as a pair with his friend, Rob. I entered as a pair with Rob’s wife Kim. Stu and I have done similar events to Brutal 10...

Guide running

I saw a post on Facebook asking for a runner who could help a visually impaired runner. They would have to run 5km between 21 and 25 minutes. I’ve only run 5km under 25 minutes a few times, but I thought I might know the runner. I emailed in offering to help. As I suspected, it was my friend, Khalid,...

Monday Morning Motivation – Lisa Smith-Batchen

If you’re searching for some motivation on a Monday morning then look no further than Lisa Smith-Batchen, who is an inspirational female runner. In July 2014, ultrarunner Lisa from Idaho, successfully covered the famed 135-mile route of Badwater  – known as “the world’s toughest footrace” due to its extreme heat and sheer duration – four times, back-to-back, adding on two...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
