My new SOAS kit and a long run

I was so excited to receive my new SOAS kit… especially as the parcel contained a handwritten note from Steph (owner and founder of SOAS Racing). I had completely forgotten about the extras that I added to my order this year. I’m so glad I got the puffa jacket, even though it’s a bit warm to wear it at the...

I heart Heartlands parkrun

This weekend, Stuart M and I headed down to Cornwall to visit my family. I’ve not been home since Christmas, so I was looking forward to it. I was also looking forward to trying out a relatively new parkrun at Heartlands. It’s now the nearest parkrun to my mum’s house. (It’s the one near to Redruth on the map below). I’ve...

London Landmarks Half Marathon

I was looking forward to the London Landmarks Half Marathon even though I hadn’t trained adequately for it. My goal for the race I’d originally expected to run Reading Half the week and the Southampton Half a few weeks later. My goal was to get a PB in Reading and then to be a pacer in Southampton. Unfortunately, Reading Half was...

Ponies, pushchairs, peaks and parkrun

M has been ill again this week, so I ended up not doing a midweek run. Then my friend Teri invited me to go for a bike ride on Friday morning. I love New Forest cycling, so I was definitely up for it. I had hoped to get myself organised the night before, but M was being tricky, so I...

parkrun #250 – done!

As usual, I had a busy weekend, so there wasn’t much time to be able to update my blog, but I did manage to get a couple of runs in. I can also confirm that I completed parkrun #250 🙂 It was really nice to get home and receive the following email. I immediately went to my profile to see whether...

My journey to my 250th parkrun

Tomorrow (all being well), I’ll finally run my 250th parkrun. It’s taken me a long time (nearly 8 years) and there has been a lot of change in that time. I’ve run 6 marathons, learnt to swim and completed two Half Ironmans. I’ve also had a baby 🙂 The beginning My first parkrun was at Eastleigh on 07/08/10. I had...

Swimathon 2018 #SwimForAll

It’s been a while since I last blogged, but I wanted to share my experiences of Swimathon 2018 with you. Endless illness I started this year with so much enthusiasm, but the last few months have been really tough. M has caught every illness going. She has had chicken pox, gastroenteritis and a kidney infection recently. This has been alongside her...

Easter exercise and a health check

Happy Easter! It’s been a great Easter weekend for me so far with a health check and some running. Health Check I was scheduled for an over 40 female health check at the gym on Friday morning. I arrived early and was greeted at reception before heading to a private room. First, I had to give my height and weight. I...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
