Workout Wednesday – Back to school benchpress

It’s hard to pick a favourite quote from this video… perhaps it is “Don’t get overwhelmed by college reading – just think of it as ten thousand tweets in a row!” or “Just because you don’t make the track team, doesn’t mean you won’t make the knitting team!” I wish Zach made motivational signs for races – that would be...

Monday Morning Motivation: From the pages of a book

Maybe you’re looking for something longer than a brief blog post from me to inspire you to continue your journey. I asked around to try to find out what the best books are to help motivate anyone who is trying to get into triathlon or improve on their personal best. (Apologies to overseas readers – the links go to UK...

Another hectic week

It feels like all of my posts start with an excuse about how busy my week has been. This week is no exception. I’ve taken part in some CrossFit sessions, Southampton Tri Club’s Tim Wilks Day triathlon, and Red Skye Sportive. Hopefully, I will have more time for blogging in a month’s time when the season winds down. Although if...

How was your weekend?

Although we’re coming to the end of the triathlon season, I had yet another busy weekend. I can’t wait until November when things start to wind down a bit for me (although I mustn’t forget that I’ve signed up for Gosport Half). Run with Teri On Friday, I managed to squeeze in a run with Teri. Neither of us is...

Monday Morning Motivation: Your ambition #ispossible

In this short film, Jamal Edwards expands on the lessons he has learned about mentorship and directs these to both his younger self and the audience. We watch him bike around the council estate where his journey first began while he relays the importance of building a support network for himself. They say it’s impossible. The teachers will say that you...

YMCA Tour de Y

I recently took part in the Tour de Y – one of the most exciting experiences of my life. Preparing for Tour de Y Whilst on the Isles of Scilly, I noticed a post on a Breeze Facebook group. They were looking for a ride leader with a first aid certificate to support a 4-day charity bike ride from Ulverston...

Durlach Turmberglauf

Last week I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to go to Germany for an education conference. I was really excited as I love Germany. For two years, I had private lessons whilst doing my German A-level (because no-one else wanted to study the subject at my school). I also attended extra evening classes and conversation classes. Then I...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
