Monday Morning Motivation: Joe Skipper – Getting the work done

Joe Skipper is the fastest British long-distance triathlete, having finished Challenge Roth in under 8 hours. I thought it might be useful to hear about his training schedule. This video that was released in February 2016. Transcript I’d normally get up around eight o’clock, sometimes a bit earlier. To be honest, since I’ve had my injury I’ve actually been getting...

Illness stops play

My plan for last weekend was to go swimming on Sunday, but M was unwell. Consequently, we cancelled that plan and went for a long walk instead. M was ill all week and I also had a cold, which changed my plans. I cycled to work on Monday and Thursday, which was good, but I didn’t manage to fit in...

Running with a buggy Q&A

I’m regularly asked questions about running with a buggy (and other issues relating to being a running mum). I thought I’d share some of my insights and useful links in a single post… Do I need a special buggy? It’s recommended that you only run with a buggy that is designed for running. There are a number of different brands...

parkrun Challenges

I love attending parkrun every week, so I’ve decided to set myself a number of parkrun challenges for the next year. Most of them are teeny tiny goals, but I thought they might add some fun. Achieve my 250 club (17 parkruns to go) Qualify for a cow cowl (I need to do 1 more UK parkrun) Do an international...

From Blind Man to Ironman – review and giveaway

It’s been months since I’ve been able to read a real book, but Baby M is finally sleeping spending night time in her own room, which means that when I get into bed, I can have a light on and can read. There are lots of things from the last year that I want to catch up with, but I...

First run after returning to work

It’s hard to believe that my maternity leave is over and that I’m back at work. I’m now working a compressed week (8-6pm, Monday-Thursday). This means that I’ll still have some free time during daylight hours when I’ll be able to cycle/run. I’m also intending to make use of my lunch breaks to do some training. Especially as my colleague,...

parkrunning Down Under

As soon as we had booked our flights to Australia, I got online to check out where the nearest parkruns were. I found that there was a parkrun at Gosling Creek in Orange, just a couple of miles away from where my brother lives. Just two weeks before we were due to arrive in Australia, a new parkrun was starting...

Back to Southampton parkrun

It was lovely to be back at Southampton parkrun this weekend, although there just wasn’t enough time to catch up with all of my running friends. Trevor and Alison were doing their 200th parkruns, which is a great milestone to reach. I met up with Rachel, a friend from Buggy Mums. It was lovely to see her little boy and...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
