Embrace Sports 08/10/14 Track and monument coastal run.

Wednesday 8th October I was quite excited about what was planned for Wednesday morning as I enjoy track sessions. It had been raining heavily, but by the time we arrived at the track, the sun had come out and it was starting to dry up. Neil briefed all of us about what the session was going to be. Then we...

Embrace Sports 07/10/14 Hell on the hills.

Tuesday morning meant ‘hell on the hills’. 9.6km isn’t a long run, but when you realise that all of it was either uphill or downhill then you know what a challenge that is. Fortunately, it was a bit overcast, so it wasn’t as hot as it had been on some other days. I’ve done this session before, but my last...

Embrace Sports 06/10/14 Portimao boardwalk reps

Monday 6th October This morning, we headed out to Portimao for some boardwalk reps. Stu and I have visited Portimao before, but the session that we did last time was a pyramid sessions (200m, 400m, 800m and then reversed). We started out with a group warm up jog around the marina, which is a lovely location. Then we had a...

Embrace Sports Woodland trail run and beach recovery run

I was looking forward to the woodland trail run. I’d done it twice previously and was determined to beat my pace from my previous attempts. The first time I did the woodland trail run, I fell quite badly on my first lap and the second time I did it, I thought I’d paced it well and then found out afterwards...

Embrace Sports 04/10/14 Arrival at ‘party camp’.

Saturday 4th October We got up early to catch our flight and had the usual curious glances and questions from other travellers who were intrigued by our ‘large suitcases’. After we had checked in, we had a bit of time to wait before our flight, so we went in search of breakfast, and some water for the flight. When we...

Technology and running

Do you let technology dictate your training or are you happy to run ‘naked’? I recently read this New York Times article: For Fitness Bands, Slick Marketing but Suspect Results My sister and my work colleague both wear Fitbits and a triathlete friend recently revealed that he wears a Garmin vivofit, so I was interested in finding out about their...

Last tri of the season – HOWSC 100

My first triathlon, last year, was HOWSC 100, so I was excited about entering the same event this year in the hope that I would get a PB (and some proof that I have made progress). I know that I’m more confident and my swimming has improved, but I wanted to know that my progress was about speed as much...

Work has submerged my world

I’ve not been posting much this summer. I’ve been so busy with my day job (which currently feels like a day and night job). I really love what I do as I get to work with some amazing people. (If it weren’t so interesting, I could really start to resent it.) Anyway, it’s now just one week until my latest...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
