parkrun Tourism: Havant parkrun

My parkrun tourism continued with a trip to Havant parkrun this week. I’m working on ‘cHampshire’ – completing all of the parkruns in Hampshire. Stu and I had agreed to give fellow RD Kate a lift to Staunton Country Park. Kate is trying to do more parkrun tourism and is interested in completing her parkrun alphabet. I was slightly concerned...

parkrun Tourism: The Old Showfield parkrun

Southampton parkrun was cancelled this week (because of Race for Life), so I suggested doing some parkrun tourism to Pete. I still want to do Havant, Rushmoor and Hogmoor Inclosure, however, Pete is trying to catch up on his parkrun alphabet. He suggested The Old Showfield in Frome. I’m easily led, so I agreed to it. We also invited Kate...

My fastest parkrun this year

On Saturday, Stu and I decided to go to Heartlands parkrun again as it’s the closest parkrun to my mum’s house. We considered going to Trelissick as that’s a Cornish parkrun that Stu hasn’t done, but he’s still struggling with an ankle injury and Trelissick involves some steep inclines. M was worn out after cycling the Camel Trail, so we...

Cycling the Camel Trail

When we bought M’s bike and FollowMe tandem, we were hopeful that we would be able to go on some family bike rides (as well as cycle commuting to nursery/school). It seemed fortuitous that the person we bought the bike and tandem from had taken his children to ride the Camel Trail. Although I’d never ridden the Camel Trail before,...

Cycling the Coast to Coast Trail

Stuart and I had a child-free day this week, so we decided to go out on our cyclocross bikes and do the Coast to Coast Trail. We’ve not done this route before and hadn’t heard of it until Stu found a leaflet about it. We mostly tend to stick to road cycling. Several years ago, Stu and I did a...

M’s first parkrun at Heartlands

Five years ago, I ran my first international parkrun at Amagerfaelled in Denmark. At the time, I was 33 weeks pregnant with M. Yesterday was M’s first parkrun at Heartlands! She’s taken part in junior parkruns and has run/walked parts of the event before, but she’s never completed 5km before. I’ve run at Heartlands several times before (5 other parkruns...

Return to the Dune of Doom – St Ives Bay 10k 2021

I ran the St Ives Bay 10k in 2019 and was determined to return one day to better my time. In 2019, it took me 1:08:36. At the time, I vowed to return and beat an hour… however, I could never have foreseen the pandemic and the consequences it had for my job, health and fitness. Anyway, although I knew...

How I’m keeping my motivation up

Like many people, I’ve found the last 18 months tough, but now that parkrun has returned, I’m feeling more of the joy of running. I’m looking forward to Saturday mornings again. I’m not chasing PBs (I’m a long way from that), but I’m enjoying encouraging M to run and have also set myself a new series of parkrun challenges, helped...

parkrun Tourism: St Mary’s parkrun, Bridport

My final long weekend has been quite busy so far. I had a bike ride on Friday, completed St Mary’s parkrun on Saturday and have been for a long family walk today. On Thursday evening, I got everything ready for my final Friday Ride (before going back to working 5 days a week). I managed to drop M off at...

Feeling happy about going slowly

This week has been another busy week. I’ve got a lot of exciting projects going on at work and am also busy at home. after the week I’ve had, any progress feels like a step in the right direction and I’m feeling happy about going slowly. Breathless run with Kate On Thursday, I went for a run with fellow parkrun...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
