Breathing space – training when ill

I’ve not been well for the last couple of weeks. I’ve had a sore throat and a chest infection, which has made ordinary life a bit of a struggle, let alone training. Blogging has had to take a backseat to just getting on with life! Breathing problems Sometimes being stubborn can have its advantages (such as my refusal to quit...

More exciting kit glimpses from SOAS

The SOAS Racing sewing machines seem to have been working 24/7 to create our 2016 Ambassador kit. I’ve seen so many glimpses of it on Instagram in the last couple of weeks and can’t wait for it to arrive in March. I love this hat. I wore my 2015 hat as often as I could get away with, but this...

Workout Wednesday – Your best shot

“You only get one shot, if you only take one shot” “Sometimes your misses help you discover something new.” “You may only make one shot out of 100, but there’s no way to make ’em unless you take ’em!” …and if you don’t remember ‘Lose Yourself’, the Eminem track that Zach refers to, here it is:

Free gifts for exercising…

…sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? I’ve recently signed up for Bounts. According to the blurb: Bounts is a digital health app that literally gets you rewards and prizes from big name brands, right down to free stuff from the local store. Get active and earn bounts points which you spend in the reward shop. – Our mission...

You have not a leg to stand on

I was recently sent a copy of D.D. Mayers’ autobiographical book: You have not a leg to stand on to review. All opinions about this book are my own. I understood that it was an autobiographical account of a man’s life following paralysis, but apart from that, I didn’t have a lot of information. My initial assumption was that the...

The Bloggers’ Lounge Awards

On Wednesday, I had a day off work to get myself ready for the Bloggers’ Lounge Awards. I planned to have a nice lie-in before catching up with my blog and having a restful morning. However, things never seem to work out the way I plan them. I managed to sleep in but was so tired that I didn’t get...

My fastest 5k so far in 2016

My original plan for today was to cycle to Brockenhurst parkrun, do the run and then cycle home – a sort of reverse duathlon. However, my friend who wanted to go cycling ended up going on a weekend trip and I have been feeling really tired, so my plans changed and I decided to do Southampton parkrun instead. Stu left...

New kit coming soon :-D

It’s so exciting that my Team SOAS Ambassador kit is currently being made. This week we got a sneak peek at the sports bras: Video of Team SOAS Ambassador kit being made I also saw a cool video of the shorts being made. The material is sublimated so that there isn’t excessive stitching. I can’t wait to wear these: If...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
