Monday Morning Motivation – Stare all you like!

One of the most memorable posters in the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign featured Cassie Cava (@onelegdontcare) In an interview with Marie-Claire, Cassie said: I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to hold onto that unrelenting belief that things would work out and I could embrace the change. Just get out there and give it a go. I...

Like a second skin…

I was so excited when I was asked if I would like to try some of the latest SKINS products. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may remember that I used to do every run in SKINS tights. When I was fatter, I was very self-conscious about my legs and so I always wore full-length tights....

Indy Run: It’s not the years honey, it’s the mileage!

Today is our 14th wedding anniversary, so Stuart and I decided to celebrate by taking part in a running event: Indy Run. This is an unusual running event in that it takes place along an out-and-back route along a towpath. Entrants can run as many or as few laps as they like in a 6 hour period. Initially, Stu and...

On yer bike – for the YMCA…

You may remember that last year I took part in Tour de Y, a charity bike ride from Lake Windermere to London in aid of the YMCA. This year, I’m excited to be able to support the YMCA again. (I’m also looking forward to meeting up with some of the fantastic people I met last year). At the end of...

The winner of the Runderwear giveaway on https://fatgirltoironman.co.uk was selected at random. Congratulations to VERITY ALDOUS. The prize is an item of Runderwear of Verity’s choice (either men’s or women’s underpants or a crop top in blue, pink or black). Hopefully, she’ll love this seam-free underwear as much as I do 🙂

Tamsyn Smith is Living Proof that Not Every Ironman Has to be A Guy!

I’d really like to thank Aidan at runsociety.com for featuring my story recently: https://www.runsociety.com/interviews/tamsyn-smith-is-living-proof-that-not-every-ironman-has-to-be-a-guy/ It was really great to connect with Aidan and to find out about a great community of runners. If you’ve not visited the site before, it’s well worth a visit.

Do you go commando?

Like thousands of others, this week I submitted my entry to the 2017 London Marathon. Fingers crossed it’s my lucky year and I get in! I don’t really feel that I want to train for a marathon at the moment, but I know that if I get a place, I’ll instantly feel excited and inspired. Of course, training for a...

First triathlon of the season

I wish every weekend were three days long. It has been so lovely having a Bank Holiday weekend and I’ve packed a lot in, but I know that I’m going to spend the rest of the week confused and wondering what day it is! Friday swim On Friday evening, I stayed at work late and then went swimming. It has...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
