Have you heard of OOFOs?

At the beginning of July, I was sent a pair of OOFOS to try out. I’d not heard of them before, but OOFOS are described as ‘footwear recovery specialists’. I was initially sceptical about the product, but after reading that OOFOS recovery footwear was awarded ‘Gear of the Year 2015’ by Runner’s World USA I thought there might be something...

Looking forward to AJ Bell London Triathlon

I had resigned myself to only doing one triathlon this year (Winchester May Day Tri), but when the opportunity to take part in the 20th London Triathlon, it was a chance that I couldn’t refuse. I’ve been to watch the event before and was impressed by the organisation, so I can’t dispute the organisers’ description of it as ‘the largest...

Monday Morning Motivation – I jiggle, therefore I am

If I had waited until I had ‘the perfect body’ before I started exercising, then I’d still be waiting. Get out there and jiggle! 🙂

Training with friends

After last weekend’s Thunder Run, I intended to take this week easy, but looking back, I’ve perhaps not been as lazy as I’d intended! On Monday evening, I did my usual swimming session with Southampton Tri Club. I liked the set and really enjoyed it… but I wish that my swimming lane hadn’t been moved to the side of the...

Thursday Tri Reads – Triathlon Plus August 2016 issue

My iron levels are currently low and I’m not able to train as much as usual, but that’s not going to stop me from working towards my triathlon goals. Even if I can’t be physically active, I can still keep my mind active and keep learning. This week, I’ve been reading the latest issue of Triathlon Plus. It’s got loads...

A full marathon in my home city

I was so excited to learn that there will be a full marathon in my home city of Southampton next year. I’ve already entered the half marathon, so am now thinking about upgrading my entry to Southampton marathon. I’ve loved running ABP Southampton Half for the last two years and think the marathon would be a great comeback race (although...

What’s in your kit bag?

One of the aspects of triathlon that can be off-putting for beginners is the sheer amount of kit that is required as this can represent quite an outlay for many people in comparison with running, for example, which just requires a pair of trainers (and a decent sports bra for some of us). I’ve been training for triathlons for 4...

Mini Team Sky

I LOVE these Mini Team Sky videos, so am sharing them because they make me laugh. Episode 1: Hydration. Episode 2: Aerodynamics. Episode 3: Culture. Episode 4: Recovery. Episode 5: Teamwork. Which one is your favourite?

Thunder Run weekend

I’ve been so busy recently that I haven’t been able to fit in as many activities as I’d like to, so sending my bike off for repairs with The Bike Guy meant that I had to ride to work on my road bike. I’ve not used it enough recently, so getting a ride in on a sunny day made me...

Monday Morning Motivation – Blazeman

Jon Blais was born in Massachusetts but moved to San Diego because of its sporting reputation. He worked there with students with disabilities. At the age of 33, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease and was permitted to enter the 2005 Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii, which was a lifelong dream. As Blais put it, “Finishing the race is...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
