parkrun Tourism at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun

Continuing with our parkrun tourism this year, Stuart and I decided to go to Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun. This was my NENDY (nearest event not done yet). If you’re not sure where the nearest event is that you haven’t already run, visit the parkrun Tourist Tool. What’s the course like? I had read that some of the course is on a...

Training ride in the New Forest

After a series of conferences on Fridays, I finally had a Friday free to go on a training ride. It was much needed as I’ve got Castle to Coast sportive triathlon and RideLondon within the next month. I’ve not spent enough in the saddle this year. I’ve also been struggling to get enough sleep as M is still not a...

Kingsbury Water parkrun

This year as part of the parkrun Conference, delegates were driven to Kingsbury Water parkrun. I was really excited to see what it would be like as it’s not an event that I’ve tried before. Trail-testing CONTRA When we arrived at Kingsbury Water, there was a stand with CONTRA clothing set up. We were told that it wasn’t for sale,...

Monday Morning Motivation: Jo Eccles

This week’s Monday Morning Motivation is a moving episode of Jessica’s parkrun Heroes. The central protagonist is Jo Eccles. Jo is someone who has gained confidence and friendship through parkrun. Jo Eccles worked as a doctor’s receptionist at the Sloan practice in Sheffield. When Dr Ollie Hart and his colleagues set up the first GP inspired parkrun in the country...

parkrun Tourism at Southsea parkrun

At the start of the year, I was struggling to get back on form with my running, so I decided to do more parkrun tourism. This relieved the pressure that I put on myself when I run at Southampton every week. To keep me on track, I wrote a planner for the first six months of the year, scheduling a...

What does it take to run parkrun in under 30 minutes?

Alongside my big goals (Castle to Coast triathlon) and RideLondon, I’ve been working on doing parkrun in under 30 minutes. I was over a minute slower than that at the LRR recalibration time trial, so I knew I had to get working. I still need to amend my eating habits to lose weight, but I’ve been making progress. My sleep...

Bike ride to Bournemouth

I must admit that I was a little apprehensive before joining Teri and her colleagues for a bike ride to Bournemouth. They are all in training for a weekend of cycling in France and have been doing some serious training miles, but Teri reckoned that I’d be able to keep up with them. It was a bright and sunny day...

Don’t nip across in front of buggy runners!

It was another run at Southampton parkrun for me again today. It was nice to be back at parkrun after missing it last week. However, the weather was a bit muggy for running. Stu and I have agreed that we’ll take it in turns to run down to Southampton parkrun. This will allow us to get a longer run in....

Feeling positive about my training

I’m feeling positive and inspired now that I’ve entered Castle to Coast. My Strava stats for May show that I’m really getting back on track. This was really helped by taking part in RunFestRun. RunFestRun I’ve written a whole post about RunFestRun, but the summary is this: 2x5km with M in her buggy 1x5km 10km 25km is significantly more than...

Windsor to Brighton – my big event of 2019

I was so excited when I learnt about Fullsteam‘s latest event: Castle to Coast. It’s an event that takes entrants from Windsor to Brighton. What makes this event unique is that it’s the UK’s only sportive triathlon. I’ve been struggling with comparing my current race times with those I was able to achieve in the past. This event is perfect...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
