María Lorena Ramírez Hernández is a 24-year-old Mexican runner. She belongs to the Tarahumara or Rarámuri ethnic group. These indigenous people are known for their long-distance running ability.
Lorena Ramirez became world famous after winning the UltraTrail Cerro Rojo in 2017. She completed the 50 km race in 7 hours and 20 minutes, whilst wearing huaraches (basic sandals) and traditional clothing. Lorena is the first Tarahumara runner to win a race in Europe.
