Monday Morning Motivation: Jeannie Rice
This week’s Monday Morning Motivation is courtesy of Jeannie Rice, a veteran runner who is showing no signs of slowing down.
Rice, a 70-year-old from Ohio, set an age-group world record at Chicago Marathon in October 2018. Her finish time was 3:27:50, beating the previous age-group record by over 7 1/2 minutes!
At the time she said her next goals were to beat her record at New York Marathon and to win her age group in each of the marathon majors. Sadly, Rice didn’t beat her record in New York (3:40:33), but she did win her age group. (She was also 4th in the age-graded percentile list for women, behind Mary Keitany, Shalane Flanagan and Vivian Cheruiyot!)
Rice has completed over 116 marathons and over 800 races at all distances.
