How do you hydrate?

Ever since I was small, my favourite drink has been water. I’ve never been particularly partial to juice/squash/cordial, and would almost always prefer to drink water. However, when it’s cold or I’m starting to get hungry, I can be persuaded to have a hot chocolate. I also quite like jasmine tea and don’t mind Earl Grey tea, but I never...

Hill Climb Girl

…no, I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about a fantastic Japanese animation called Hill Climb Girl. In it, Bradley Wiggins, in full Tour de France mode, battle up a hill whilst racing a Japanese school girl on a basic bike. Monday Morning Motivation – From Fat Man to Ironman

This week’s motivation comes courtesy of Dan Hyatt, who managed to lose nearly 10 stone (135lbs) to put him on the path to a healthier life and much closer to his goal of becoming an ironman. You can learn more about Dan’s story here: ‘From Fatman to Ironman’: Dad loses 135 pounds on his way to the finish line Triathlon...

Gosport Half Marathon

Today was my last ‘proper’* race of the year. Although I knew I hadn’t prepared adequately for it, I was actually feeling quite good. I ran 10 miles a couple of times when I was on holiday in Portugal, did a 10-mile training run on 2nd November and a 15k run last weekend. None of these were at the pace...

Preparation for Gosport Half Marathon

The weekend started with parkrun. As I’ve got a slight niggle (hamstring/glute), I decided that it would be more sensible to just watch. It was good to meet up with Ros who has just got a lovely new bike. Hopefully she’s planning lots of adventures. Tomorrow is Gosport Half Marathon. I’m hoping that I can beat my time from last...

26 things to do on a bike before you die

26 things to do on a bike before you die is the title of an interesting article that I read on Cycling Weekly. I thought it might be fun to have a look at the list to see what I’ve achieved so far:   Learn to ride a unicycle – this might be quite fun, but I’m not sure when I’d...

What a glorious feeling, I’m happy again…

We’ve had torrential rain here for the last few days, but things are starting to look positive. There’s even some sunshine on the weather map for tomorrow 🙂 Monday morning The day didn’t start well. Car problems meant that I missed out on the strength and conditioning session that I had been looking forward to. I was so gutted about...

A non-runner’s guide to runners

A non-runner’s guide to runners made me laugh out loud. I recognise all of the stereotypes about clothing and food! Which one did you like best?

Starting my half marathon training

Muddy cross-country run or a sociable long run? Decisions, decisions. This morning I had to choose between doing a cross-country race or a long run with other people who are training for Southampton Half Marathon. Although the weather forecast was good, I decided to avoid the cross-country race. My chest was still feeling the effects of yesterday’s run. Also the...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
