Two runs in a row at Southampton parkrun

Yesterday was my first buggy run at Southampton parkrun for a number of weeks. I’ve missed a few because of being in Warwick for the parkrun Ambassadors Conference, then I was in Tenby for the Long Course Weekend. After that, I was at Thunder Run. Last weekend, I had relatives visiting, so M was looked after by my aunt whilst...

Thunder Run

As in previous years when we’ve done Thunder Run, we drove up to Catton on Thursday, with the intention of setting up camp early on Friday morning. That gave us Thursday afternoon to go for a long walk with M before having dinner with friends. Setting up camp at Catton Park We were up early on Friday and headed to...

Long Course Weekend 2018 – the good, the bad and the ugly

Two years ago, I took part in Long Course Weekend. I’d originally entered the full distance, but when I got pregnant, I realised that I wouldn’t be able to do the full event. I loved the experience, so we agreed that we would come back when M was a bit older so that I could do the full distances. M is...

Leamington parkrun with the parkrun Ambassadors

As part of the parkrun Ambassadors’ Conference, we were taken by coach to Leamington parkrun. Some people chose to run there… and an unlucky coachload worried that they would have to run there as their coach broke down. Fortunately, there was room for them to squeeze onto the other coaches. We arrived in plenty of time. I’d chosen to wear...

Will I ever reach my goal?

I’ve not been posting much recently for a number of reasons. I’ve been thinking (dreaming!) about becoming an Ironman and wondering “Will I ever reach my goal?” Excuses, excuses There hasn’t been much to post recently. I’ve not been exercising much and it definitely shows. I was trying to swim once a week during my lunch break, but haven’t managed...

Climbing a small mountain

I did barely any running in April, so it was nice to see an improvement in May. Let’s hope June is better! After a good run with Rachel yesterday, I had a fairly slow run at Southampton parkrun today: I hope next week’s run is better!

Swimfreak Goggles Review

I’ve been testing out a pair of Swimfreak open water swimming goggles. As I’ve struggled to get in the lake/sea as much as I’d like, I initially tested them in my local pool. This gave me a chance to assess their fit and comfort. I really liked the design of the goggles and they felt comfortable on. Unfortunately, I just...

Hi, I'm Tamsyn!

Triathlete | Blogger | Running Coach & Fitness Instructor

As an overweight couch potato, I decided to turn my life around. I lost over 33lbs/15kg and now love keeping fit and healthy. In February 2013, I set myself a challenge to complete an iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile/3.8k swim; 112 mile/180k bike; 26.2 mile/42.2k run).

Since starting my triathlon journey, I’ve:

  • learnt to swim and completed a 17.5km sea swim
  • bought my first road bike and cycled across Japan
  • run six marathons.
  • had a baby.

  • I’ve not completed an Ironman yet… but I’m getting there.
