Monday Morning Motivation: Moon Fahel
As we’re in peak marathon season, this week’s inspiration is courtesy of an 85-year-old runner: Moon Fahel. Moon joined a gym after retiring at 66. Whilst there he would try anything that sounded like fun, including Zumba and martial arts.
Moon was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer when he started running just over 6 years ago. Since then he has battled thyroid cancer and liposarcoma cancer… and he’s also run five marathons.
I was impressed that despite his late start to running and advanced age, Moon’s marathon time is around 5:30. I also love his marathon tip: “a small bar of candy and some pretzels” at mile 19!
