Monday Morning Motivation: George Etzweiler – For the love of Mary
This week’s heart-warming and inspirational film is about George Etzweiler, a ‘vintage’ runner.
The first time 98-year-old runner George Etzweiler completed the race up the northeast’s tallest peak, Mount Washington, he was 69 years old.
Despite having a pacemaker, the Pennsylvania resident continues to compete in the gruelling 7.6-mile race. It’s tough as it ascends up nearly 4,700 feet of paved road. Every year, George breaks his own record for the oldest finisher.
George doesn’t have the latest kit. He wears his lucky green running shorts. He also carries something special with him: The memory of his late wife of 68 years, Mary.
